Starting New
9/17/2023
When I've started something new, I often have a subtle anxiety that maybe I've made a big mistake. I'm sure many people feel that way, and I imagine it comes from the pressure of not wanting to fail, or to let yourself or others down. Well, mistake or not, I've started something new.
I've been known as a husband, father, programmer, veteran, financial markets enthusiast, and maybe some other things, but never for anything livestock related. Despite my lack of experience, that is the world I've thrust myself into; the world of raising Texas Longhorns.
Though this chapter has just started for me and my family, I can already say that I have a great affection for it. Honestly, this may not turn out to be a chapter at all. Chapters end. I don't want this to end. After you've spent time on a ranch in the country, caring for the land and the animals it supports, it's hard to imagine walking away from it.
I've learned a lot already, but its clear most of my learning is still ahead. This blog is where I'd like to share experiences we have with our Texas Longhorns, and with the work (and play) that goes along with raising them.
